Amazonite is a green / blue variety of microcline feldspar; its name derived from the Amazon River where similar green stones were once found. White mineral streaks punctuate the amazonite making for particular attractive specimens. The white mineral streaks are most likely orthoclase or albeit, two minerals which are commonly associated with amazonite along with quartz. These specimens measure ~ 25 mm x 25 mm and are supplied in a tightly sealed blister pack with a detailed information card and a plastic hand lens to enhance the viewing of the sample. An ideal gift for children, beginner geologists and collectors.
