A candle holder made from pure Volcanic slate. The raw material was taken from the Borrowdale volcanic area of the Cumbrian Lake District in Northwest England. a hole measuring 35 mm in diameter and 75 mm in depth has been carved into the centre of the mound of slate allowing comfortable room allowance for most candles to sit in. Due to the carving, the top, bottom and candle hole are smooth to the touch, while the remaining faces have been left with a rough and natural texture. The base of the rock has been covered by a green velvet cushion to prevent scratches. The overall appearance is a dull grey colour, which would complement any interior aesthetic with lots of colour.
