A genuine fossilised ammonite, which has been cut and polished along the line of bilateral symmetry to give a tool of analysis for the interior of the creature. This fossil dates from the cretaceous period (135 Ma) and come from Moronbe, Madagascar. The specimens themselves measure approximately 20 mm in diameter and are supplied in a high-quality perspex box, with a dinosaur-themed magnified hand lens and a detailed information label, which explains the background of ammonites and their importance to the fossil record. This product is suited to both novices and expers of palaeontology.
