Cyrtospirifer whitneyi are an extinct species of brachiopod which were present during the Devonian period, some 419 – 358 million years ago. These particular fossil specimens were found in the Lime Creek formation which is located in Rockford, Iowa, USA. these species of brachiopod are well known for their narrow hinges and the way the shape of their shells tend to taper narrowly towards the edges.
