Details

Dictyonema are among the most well known of the graptolite specimens, this is because they often have a unique bell shaped outline from which numerous branches protruded outwards from. As with most graptolite species, the remains of this fossil are preserved in a shale matrix, found in Ffestiniog, Wales in the UK, it is among the oldest of the fossil specimens we stock, dating back to the Cambrian period, 541 to 485 million years ago. The matrix its self measures 11 x 7 cm in size with the specimen measuring approximately 5 x 6 cm. Supplied in a card tray with an information label, a rare and very ancient fossil to add to any serious collection.
