Description

Details

The partial dental plate of an Elasmodus fish collected from the Palaeocene Woolwick Bottom Beds in Kent, UK. Elasmodus is a genus of chimaeroid fish. Today chimaeroid fish reside largely in deep waters and their closest living relative are sharks despite having branched off from sharks 400 Mya. Naturally the size and shape of the dental plate fragments varies thus we offer varied forms: Partial Lower Dental Plate: These specimens measure approximately 20 mm in length and they have been identified as fragments of the lower dental plate. Partial Upper Dental Plate: Partial Upper Dental Plate - These specimens measure between 25 and 30 mm in length; they have been identified as a fragment of the upper dental plate. Partial Upper Dental Plate (Large) - This specimen measures approximately 52 mm in length and has been identified as a fragment of the upper dental plate.
