Galena mineral specimens in a baryte matrix collected from Weardale in Co. Durham. Galena is an important lead ore and as such it has played a very important role throughout human history. Galena typically forms cubic crystal systems however due to exposure and weathering specimens may appear more blocky. Never the less the attractive metallic lustre and silvery colour makes galena a popular mineral among amateurs, professionals and collectors. These specimens are supplied in a large ( ~ 4 cm x 4 cm ) magnification box to enhance the viewing of the mineral. An interesting addition to any collection both for educational and display purposes, excellent for children ( +7 ) or as gift for mineral enthusiasts and those interested in geology.
