Striking green malachite mineral specimens which come from Zaire, Congo. These specimens have been tumbled and polished to smoothen the mineral and enhance the beautiful green colour and banding. Malachite was used throughout ancient history as a mineral pigment in paints but more recently it has been mined to produce copper and is often used for ornamental purposes and as a gemstone. The Zaire variety of malachite is particularly attractive, it has a vibrant green colour and would be sure to make an eye catching addition to a collection. These specimens are supplied in a small ( 2.5 cm x 2.5 cm ) magnification box to enhance the viewing of the mineral. It would make an interesting addition to any collection, excellent for children ( +7 ) or as gift for mineral enthusiasts and those interested in geology.
