Description

Details

Neolithic fishing weights found in Bardouville, Normandy, France. These weights are composed of limestone and are punctuated by a 1 cm hole where fishing nets could be attached. The weights would have held the fishing net close to the bed of the water body where bottom dwelling food sources such as eels and fish would occupy. Limestone being a softer rock was often the rock of choice for our neolithic ancestors, it allowed for holes to be drilled using sand, water and a robust stick. They weigh approximately 500 g and are 11 x 9 cm in size. The weights are sold individually and are supplied with an information label.
