Peacock ore is a variety of the mineral bornite, aptly given its name due its striking eye catching colours. It is a copper ore and as such it is very dense. Peacock ore generally occurs as infills within veins and fissures in rock commonly associated with chalcopyrite, another copper ore which we also supply. These specimens have a metallic lustre and vibrant colours of brassy yellow, pink, purple and blue. These fragments measure approximately 25 mm in length and two fragments are supplied in each tightly sealed blister pack. The pack comes with a detailed information card and a plastic hand lens to enhance the viewing of the sample. An ideal gift for children, beginner geologists and collectors.
