Special specimens from the High Atlas mountains of Midelt, Morocco. Chalcopyrite is a Copper Iron Sulphide mineral, and a copper ore. It possesses a brassy, yellow color with metallic lustre. It is formed by volcanic processes leading to its deposition as a sulphide ore. Found in ore veins, these samples also contain peacock ore, which is is a variation of bornite, aptly given its name due its striking eye catching colours of blue, purple, pink and yellow. It is also a copper ore, hence making this sample very dense. The mineral its self is fairly soft, coming up at a hardness of 3.5 to 4 on the Mohs scale & a green tinged black streak when pulled across a streak plate. These specimens are available in 2 sizes, and come supplied in a card tray with an information label
