DetailsAlbula oweni fish tooth collected from Eocene sediments in Vlierzele, Belgium. Albula is a genus of fish belonging to the Bonefish family. Today Albula fish exploit brackish or saline waters, they commonly occur in estuaries feeding on benthic organisms such as small mollusks, worms and shrimps etc. This broad, rounded tooth would have been ideal for crushing the hard shells of certain prey items. It measures 5 mm and is supplied in a small plastic bag with an information label.
