Sulphur is a well known mineral which is often various shades of yellow in colour, but more known for the pungent odour the it gives off. It forms in areas associated with natural hot spring or volcanic activity and historically was coined 'brimstone'. It can form as pointed crystal beds with a transluscent yellow colour or as a fine crystalline massive form with a pale yellow colour, such as these pieces which come from Bolivia. Sulphur is mined and used for its acidic properties such as in fertilizers, pesticides and other industrial chemicals. Avaialble in 3" x 2" sizes only, the samples will come supplied in a card tray with an information label.
