Turqoise is a popular mineral due to its striking calm blue colouration, ease of cutting and shaping and ease of polishing, as such, it has been used as a semi precious stone through out time. Even being included in various ornate vase, bowls and even masks, such as Tutankhamuns death mask and Xiuhtecuhtli, the Aztec god of fires mask. The colouration is due to the presence of copper in the mineral, which turns turqoise when oxisided. These particular specimens come from South Africa and are of a low grade variation and rough, but still exhibit the turqoise colour that the mineral is named for. Available in 1.5" x 1.5" sizes only, each piece will come supplied in a card tray with an information label.
