Details

Wavellite is an eye catching green coloured mineral with a fibrous crystal habit, however, the crystals tend to form in a a radiating "starburst" pattern making the samples even more eye catching. This mineral is commonly associated with low-grade metamorphic rocks, first described in 1805 for an occurrence within the High Down Quarry, Filleigh, Devon, England and named for William Wavell (1750 - 1829) who discovered the mineral, high quality specimens are sometimes used as a gemstone. These particular specimens are supplied in perspex magnifier boxes with an information label.
