Its beautiful green colour is caused by slight traces of chromophore such as chromium and sometimes vanadium. Fluorite octahedron crystals from southern Illinois, USA. These mineral specimens are around 7 – 15 mm in size and available in three colours, clear, blue or purple and all are translucent, allowing some light through, giving them a gem quality colour and appearance. These octahedron crystals, while genuine fluorite have been cleaved into these shapes, a practice which has been practiced from some 200 years and still continues to this day with fluorite crystals from China. Due to the small size, these samples will come supplied in a x4 magnifier box.

Tektite mineral specimens which were collected from Thailand, and have formed an irregular ‘tear drop’ shape. Each specimen measures 10 – 20mm approx in size. Radiometric dating gives an approximate age of 700,000 years old. Specimens are irregular in shape and are mainly black & opaque with a glassy lustre on fractured surfaces.
