Geology, as some may know is a fundamental part of everyday life, and often without any of us knowing it. Minerals are the base ingredient for almost every material humans have conceived. Plastic, concrete, plaster and of course, metal. All metals are derived from minerals, without them, or without the knowledge of how to utilise and process them. We would, as humans still be living in the stone age. For example, iron is often made from the mineral hematite, plaster of Paris from gypsum, aluminium from bauxite, copper from malachite and the list goes on. These minerals have in turn, led scientists to even classify stages in human history with certain mineral names; (bronze age, iron age). In this section, you will find a variety of minerals which are used as ores. Including the ones mentioned above and many more.
