Metamorphic Rocks

Metamorphic rocks are igneous or sedimentry rocks which have been altered by high temperature, strong pressure or a combination of both. Effectively, metamorphic rocks have been baked changing their appearence and texture as the various crystals alter. Rocks such as a shale become slate, sandstone becomes metaquartzite and limestone becomes marble. This particular category of rock is characterized often by some vibrant coloured samples such as Eclogite which is green & red to Glaucaphane Schist which is blue.
