Actinolite mineral specimens exhibiting a deep green colouration and fibrous crystal habit as expected, the samples were collected from Norway and display perfectly what massive actinolite should show, they are available in different sizes and supplied in a card tray with a label.
Actinolite is a deep green amphibole silicate mineral with a fibrous crystal habit, these particular specimens were collected from Norway. It's name is derived from the Greek word "Aktis" meaning "beam" or "ray" because of the fibrous habit the crystals grow in. It is commonly found in metamorphic rocks, such as contact points known as aureoles surrounding cooled bodies of intrusive igneous rock. It also occurs as a product of the metamorphism of magnesium-rich limestones. Fibrous actinolite is also one of the six recognised types of asbestos and so harsh handling of specimens should be avoided and hands should be washed after use. Specimens are supplied in labelled card trays and offered in various optional sizes.
