Amazonite tumblestones, often popular because of their calm green colour, amazonite is a variety of the mineral feldspar, it is so named because certain green stones were formerly obtained from a location near the Amazon river, and so is sometimes known as amazon stone. It is suggested that the colouration is due to trace small quantities of lead and water being present in the mineral during its time of formation. These pieces have been tumbled and polished, this making them smoother to handle and enhances the colour, pieces vary between 2 to 3 cm in size and are available as single gemstones or in set quantities.
