Amethyst in Large Mag box ( Uruguay )

Stunning amethyst crystal bed on matrix collected from Uruguay. These specimens exhibit various shades of purple and show the pointed crystal nature associated with many quartz family of minerals. Interestingly the name is derived from ancient Greek, ἀ meaning 'not' and méthystos meaning 'intoxicated' as it was believed that the mineral protected its user from drunkenness.These specimens are supplied in a large ( 4 cm x 4 cm ) magnification box to enhance the viewing of the mineral.
