Ammonite chambers with Quartz
Species Name: Hoplosaphites sp.
Age: Jurassic, Bajocian
Location: Normandy, France
Fragmented sections of ammonite shell infilled by coarse quartz crystals. The shell of these ammonites was infilled by a quartz cement not long after death of the organism helping preserve and retain the detail of the shell. They date back to the Bajocian stage of the Jurassic, approximately 168 to 170 Mya. The quartz infill makes these specimens particularly pretty, each fragment is sold individually and is supplied in a 2" x 2" or 3" x 2" white card tray according to its size.
