Cordierite hornfels is a variation of the hornfels and is so named for the inclusion of small cordierite crystals within the pronounced banding. Cordierite is a magnesium iron aluminium cyclosilicate which occurs in contact or regional metamorphism of argillaceous rocks.The samples were collected from near Carrock Fell. Cumbria, UK.
