This bunter sandstone is a desert sandstone from the Buntsandstein (bunter sandstone) strata, it is dated to the lower Triassic period 252 – 246 Mya. The Buntsandstein is a lithostratigraphic unit in the subsurface of western and central Europe, it was deposited in the Germanic basin which is a large sedimentary basin that was the successor to the Permian basin. Samples are supplied in a white card tray with an information label and are ideal for collectors of British rocks.
