Calcite nail head spar found in Weardale, County Durham in the UK, exhibiting an off white, grey colouratoin with nail head crystals, this specimen measures 120 x 85 mm in size, an excellent piece for those interestedin British samples, calcites, galena and fluorites were once common place around Durham, though increaisngly becoming difficult to come by now days. Supplied in a white specimen tray with a label.

Calcite is a very common mineral with many different variations and colours, it is highly reactive with many acids including weaker ones and is quite low on the moh's scale of hardness 3. These specimens are nail head calcite a variety of calcite which has flat pyramidal termination of the prismatic crystals which resemble nail heads. Overall, the sample measures 120 x 85 x 40 mm in size, an excellent addition,moreso for its locality than anything else, especially for those you interested in British mineral pieces.
