Candle quartz is a variation of the mineral, quartz which has an off white colouration and waxy lustre, multiple crystal points within one specimen can sometimes occur as well. Aside from these points, the crystals still depict a trigonal system and have a hardness of 7 on the Mohs index. We have pieces available in two sizes which will come supplied in a card tray with a label.
Candle quartz is a typical rock crystal or quartz point that has a waxy lustre and sometimes uneven surface, hence the name ‘candle quartz’. Aside from this, these crystal points are the same as other quartz crystals belonging to the trigonal crystal system, they exhibit a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale of hardness, meaning they are quite resistant to damage. Specimens tend to be an off white colour resembling candle wax and are opaque, letting very little light through, if any at all. This is in contract to other quartz crystal points, which tend to be either transparent or translucent, letting some or all light through. Most candle quartz comes from Madagascar, as do these specimens, they will exhibit the typical waxy lustre and excellent crystal form and shape, they are available in 2 sizes, the pieces will come supplied in a card tray with an information label.
