The mouth plate of Eodiodon sp collected from the Eocene Bracklesham Beds of Hampshire, UK. Eodiodon is an extinct genus of bony fish which lived during early to mid Eocene times. The mouth plate is used in certain fish to help crush and grind down hard prey items such as mollusks. These mouth plates measure between 2 and 4 cm in total length and they are supplied in small plastic bags with an information label.
