£1.50 – £6.60
Specimens of epidote crystal in matrix from Iran, excellent quality mineral specimens detailing the black, opaque colouration of epidote along with the vitreous lustre and prismatic crystal habit. The crystals are randomly orientated and form small beds upon a larger matrix.
Specimens of epidote crystal in matrix from Iran, very high quality mineral specimens exhibiting black, single epidote crystals in a bed which have a prismatic form. The mineral was named in 1801 by René Just Haüy, a prominent French mineralogist and founder of the Musée de Minéralogie in Paris, France. The name is derived from the Greek word Epidosis, which mean "increase" in reference to the crystal characteristic of one longer side at the base of the prism. These mineral specimens of epidote from Iran are becoming harder to obtain due to political unrest in the region, however, they also exhibit without a doubt, the excellent, text book example expected from epidote, as such, these pieces are specifically suited for higher education or serious mineral collectors. Available in three optional sizes, the specimens will come supplied in a card tray with an information label.
