Technical Specification:
The Estwing E3-22P geological hammer is a mid weight geological hammer manufactured by strike tools specialist, Estwing in the United States of America. It has a 22 oz weight, (623 grams) making it both heavy enough to deal damaging force per strike while still maintaining excellent control. The hammerhead has one flat face for breaking and crushing rock or matrix while the opposite side has a pointed tip, which enables the users to split or pry rock apart. Manufactured using Estwings drop forge technique, the hammer is made from a single piece of US steel, meaning it will last a lot longer than most other strike tools. The pointed tip is particularly useful if you intend to extract fossils or crystals from their matrix where the point allows you to make careful and intricate movements. The handle is covered in a shock reducing vinyl grip which is blue in colour, making it easily visible should you misplace it on site. The E3-22P is one the most popular hammers on the market with geologists today.
