Specimens of fluorite crystal beds from Worton Hall Mine, Bainbridge, Wensleydale, Yorkshire, UK. Fluorite (also known as fluorspar) is a popular mineral specimen for many, children, teachers, collectors etc, it often forms with a cubic crystal habit with the crystals being a variety of colours and sizes from deep rich purples, vibrant greens, calming yellows and sometimes crystal clear. The history of fluorspar mining in the region began in 1882 and finally finished in 1999, with the closure of the Frazer Hush Mine. Some good quality specimens are still obtained from Rogerley and Greenlaws mines, but they are purely for the collectors market, often fetching very high prices. Not to detract from the samples we offer, they are of excellent quality, though some may show minor damage. These pieces of fluorite vary in colour from purple to clear or faint yellow, with some specimens containing marcasite inclusions. These samples are a must have for any British mineral collector, though the quality of these specimens makes them ideal for any collection. Specimens are supplied in a white card tray with an information label.
