Green aventurine belongs to the quartz family of minerals, its hardness is slightly less than that of pure quartz, at 6.5 on the Moh’s scale. The mineral is characterised by the inclusion of platy minerals which give it a glittering appearance when observed from certain light angles. In this case the green colouration is derived from chrome bearing fuschite present in the aventurine specimens. Other colours such as brown, yellow, orange & blue can also occur depending on the mineralogy of the inclusions. These pieces, which have a vibrant chrome green colour come from Brazil and exhibit a crystalline texture, each specimen is supplied in a labelled card tray with sizes of your choosing.

Cleavelandite is a variety of the mineral albite, one of the constituent minerals of plagioclase feldspar, thus is found in areas where pegmatites and granites exists in certain localities around the world. These particular specimens come from Evje, in Southern Norway and as expected, has a pale green colouration to it. As with albite, cleavelandite also exhibits a triclinic crystal habit and has a hardness of 6- 7 on the Moh’s scale of hardness, it is usually found within cavities of other rocks or minerals. Iceland spar is a clear variation of calcite, it exhibits the rhombic crystal system of calcite perfectly, the crystals easily divide into rhombs, making them well sought after for a variety of reasons. When light passes through one of the crystals, it is divided into two rays at different angles which results in a double refraction effect.
