The KM-7 Kappa Magnetic Susceptibility Meter—a compact, user-friendly device actively designed to assess the magnetic susceptibility of rocks and drill cores. This tool excels in both fieldwork and precision lab measurements of magnetic properties.
Operating across a range of ± 999 x 10-3 SI units, the KM-7 automatically adjusts its range for active magnetic susceptibility measurements. It boasts exceptional sensitivity, capable of detecting values as low as 1 x 10-6 SI units. With a memory capacity of up to 999 records, it efficiently stores measurement data. Crafted for field use, the KM-7 features robust construction, effectively resisting dust and water. It conveniently straps onto the wrist or attaches to a belt via a leather case.
The KM-7 precisely calibrates for an ideal scenario—where the measurement coil adheres to a perfectly smooth surface, mirroring a magnetically uniform, isotropic half-plane. For uneven surfaces, it’s equipped with a pin attachment to ensure precision. When utilising the pin, be sure to activate the dedicated PIN mode.
Expanding its utility, the KM-7 excels in actively measuring drill cores. By configuring the sensor settings to CORE mode and inputting the drill core diameter, the device seamlessly facilitates measurements. However, exercise caution when measuring directly on drill cores to avoid inaccuracies arising from residual metallic fragments.
The KM-7 Kappa Magnetic Susceptibility Meter offers three distinct measurement modes: single mode, scan mode, and remote mode.
We also offer other devices for geophysical testing which you can view HERE.
