Specimens of milky quartz containing small amounts of lepidolite mica from Glen Gairn, Strathdon, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Lepidolite mica is a lilac coloured mineral of the mica group, which also includes muscovite, biotite, phlogopite and others. As expected of mica minerals, the crystals form in sheets known as a basal cleavage, when the sheets form in large masses, they are sometimes referred to as ‘books’, due to the sheets appearing similar to the pages of a book. Lepidolite is found in quartz veins, greisens and granite. It is an abundant source of lithium, an element well used in modern technology in the present day in most of our pieces of hand held gadgets such as mobile phones, tablets, cordless power tools and more. These samples of quartz contain a pale lilac lepidolite mica which has a massive form. These samples, perfect for British mineral collectors, are supplied in a white card tray with an information label.

elenite pencils are exquisite and captivating mineral formations that showcase the natural beauty of selenite, a form of gypsum. They exhibit a pristine translucence that allows light to pass through, creating a mesmerising glow when held to the light. Each selenite pencil measures approximately 14cm in height and 4cm in width whilst being smooth and well weighted. This makes them easy to hold whilst remaining promenant enough to stand out as a decorative piece. They all feature a flat, hexagonal base, making them easy to stand on a range of surfaces. Since these items are made from 100% natural selenite, it is common to expect some slight variance between each specimen, whether that be in shape, size or the occasional scratch. Despite this, these selenite pencils would make a great addition to any room, adding some flair and elegance.

Specimens of pink agate from India. Agate is a common silica mineral and a variety of chalcedony, usually forming within the cavities of volcanic rocks. Agate is comprised of banded fibrous chalcedony, the crystals of which can be quite difficult to see resulting in agates classification as having a cryptocrystalline habit. The banding within the agate is a result of changing translucency within the mineral, these bands may also vary in colour if other minerals are present. These particular specimens of agate have an attractive pale pink colouration with small – moderate amounts of brown agate present. Some specimens may also contain cavities filled with pale pink to white quartz crystals. Samples are supplied in a white card tray with an information label.
Specimens of blue calcite from Mexico. These samples of blue calcite vary in colour from the typical light blue to a pale almost white, they are supplied in a card tray with an information label. These specimens are perfect for mineral collectors and ideal as a teaching aid.

Orange calcite is a coloured variation of the mineral calcite (calcium carbonate), it has an orange hue to it due to the presence of haematite impurities, these particular specimens exhibit a more crystalline, fine grained crystal texture in which the individual crystals are too fine to be seen, however, the crystal have grown and interlocked with each other to form a large mass, known as ‘massive’. Calcite its self is among the most common mineral found naturally, quite often as mineral deposits but also in many sedimentary rocks, either as a cement or as crystal inclusions, particularly limestone. It is well known for being a fairly soft mineral, easily scratched, coming in at 3 on the Mohs scale of hardness. These particular pieces are suitable for enthusiasts and educational use, both because of the calming blue colour and also the crystal structure and as a means to display the various colours a mineral can be found. Supplied in lots of 1kg, in a heavy duty polythene bag with information label.
