Liostrea delta are an extinct species of bivalve belonging to the oyster family which lived during the Jurassic period between 199 to 145 million years ago. These fossil specimens were found in the Kimmeridge clay beds in Weymouth in Dorset, they measure 13 x 10 cm in size on average and as expected, have a fairly flat profile. As suggested from the species name, they lived in brackish delta environments and look very similar to modern days fauna. They are excellent fossils specimens which have been clenaed of matrix so that growth lines can easily be seen, supplied in a a card tray with an information label.
