Malachite is a copper mineral which has long been used by humans as a source of copper, it is easily recognisable due to its green colouration. The mineral forms deep underground, often fractures or spaces where the water table and hydrothermal fluids provide the means for chemical precipitation, leaving malachite veins or pockets behind. It has pre-historically been used as a paint pigment and is a major source of copper ore as well as in gemstone and jewellery products. These particular mineral specimens come from Morocco, they exhibit a fibrous mass crystal texture instead and a vibrant green colouration, the samples are available in 2 sizes only and come supplied in a card tray with an information label.
