The metamorphic texture card contains information pertaining to metamorphic rock textures you will commonly find in the field as well as some of the more common metamorphic facies you will encounter. It displays a guide on how to metamorphic rocks form, the pressure and temperature require as well as brief explanations. The card has been laminated so is waterproof and wont rip, making it ideal for students and also professional geologists, having a handy reference available at short notice, especially if you are about to partake in your field mapping projects.

A5 in size, the card contains relevant geological data on both sides. One side contains over 40 different sedimentary logging symbols such as ‘Breccia’, ‘cross bedding’, ‘tuff’, and so forth.. On the opposite side, a wide variety of common geological mapping symbols are printed including ‘inclined strata’, ‘faults’, ‘mineral veins’ etc. Also includes a geological time scale.
The card is printed onto translucent plastic for easy reading and comparing against grain size and texture in the field. The card includes a sorting chart, roundness scale and percentage by area images and is 149mm x 72mm, made from plastic it is completely waterproof and tear resistant.

Augite andesite igneous rock specimens from Thirlmere, Cumbria, UK which are of late Ordovician age which form part of the Barrowdale volcanic group. The samples are of intermediate composition and contain phenocrysts of the pyroxene mineral, augite, giving the normally dark blue rock a black speckled appearance. Biotite granite igneous rock specimens from Ballachulish, Scotland, UK. Composed of the felsic minerals quartz and feldspar, with occurrences of biotite crystals. The rock has an overall white appearance due to its felsic chemistry but the black biotite mica offers a striking contrast in colours. The samples are ideal for both collectors due to the attractive nature and for college to university level education to describe the variations in granite which one may find. Epidote is an abundant rock forming mineral that is most commonly green in colour. These specimens date from the Stenian period, approximetely 1 – 1.2 billion years ago. These specimens are available in limited supply, with two different size options. They come supplied in a white card tray with information label.

These specimens display a monochromatic black interior, offset by a distinct white exterior. These specimens are available in various sizes and come in a white card tray with an information label.
