Micaceous Sandstone
Micaceous Sandstone. As the name suggests, this type of sandstone contains flakes of mica which can be seen glinting in the specimens.
This micaceous sandstone is a moderately sorted lithology with mica flakes aligned parallel to the bedding. It is estuarine to shallow marine in origin & comes from the Carboniferous (Coal Measure) deposits around Halifax in Yorkshire. Specimens are supplied in labelled card trays.
