Mosasaur Tooth

Mosasaurs are an extinct group of predatory marine reptiles, some of which could grow up to 20 metres in length. Apex predators of the prehistoric seas, they have long since been a popular animal depicted in many books, video games and films along side other notable dinosaurs such as the Tyrannosaurus rex. Mosasaurs roughly had a crocodilian body form, except they had a longer tail which ended in a tail fluke, theorised to propel their massive bodies forward along with large paddle like flippers which they used to perform quick manoeuvres underwater. Like all apex predators, their mouths were filled filled with rows of long, pointed teeth to catch and devour prey. These samples of teeth we have here are from an undetermined species of mosasaur which lived 70 million years ago during the Cretaceous period in the region which is now Khouribga, Morocco. Though remains have been found in many countries around the world, each tooth is roughly 2 to 3 cm in length and exhibits a conical shape. Supplied in a small card tray with an information label, they make excellent samples for gifts, children in late school years, educational use and more.
