Muscovite mica is a common mineral often found in many other rocks. It is sometimes also known as common mica and is easily identifiable due to its perfect basal cleavage which result in specimens forming with thin laminae (sheets) which are often referred to as a ‘book’. These mica sheets also have a certain point of elasticity to them, being able to be bent and returning to their original shape. It is also know because of it’s metallic lustre, which gives the surface of said sheets a reflective nature. Many children will often refer to mica or rocks which include a lot of mica as being like a mirror. A soft mineral, ranking between 2 and 3 on the Moh’s scale of hardness, it can be easily scratch, broken or even cut with scissors if the sheets are thin enough. Our samples come from Pakistan andf are high quality. These particular samples are supplied by weight in lots of 1 kilo bags, they sizes vary between 20 mm to 50 mm, however, it should be noted that the pieces are also very thin. Also supplied will be an information card.

Halite mineral specimens supplied in bags of 1kg. Supplied in a bag of 1kg along with an information card.
Oragne gypsum, particularly, the variety, satin spar, due to it’s fibrous needle like crystals, available by weight in lots of 1 kilogram bags, supplied in a polythene bag with a label, the gypsum exhibits an orange hue due to the presence of hematite. An excellent source of a quantity of minerals for effective costs, suotable for educational use, kits or more, the pack also comes with a data label.
Calcite rhombs, excellent mineral specimens supplied by 1 kilogram weight, the samples show a cubic cleavage as expected and vary in colour between white, grey and brown. A very soft mineral, calcite scratches easily and reacts with weak acid by fizzing. It will be supplied in a polythene bag along with an information card.
Orange calcite is a coloured variation of the mineral calcite (calcium carbonate), it has an orange hue to it due to the presence of haematite impurities, these particular specimens exhibit a more crystalline, fine grained crystal texture in which the individual crystals are too fine to be seen, however, the crystal have grown and interlocked with each other to form a large mass, known as ‘massive’. Calcite its self is among the most common mineral found naturally, quite often as mineral deposits but also in many sedimentary rocks, either as a cement or as crystal inclusions, particularly limestone. It is well known for being a fairly soft mineral, easily scratched, coming in at 3 on the Mohs scale of hardness. These particular pieces are suitable for enthusiasts and educational use, both because of the calming blue colour and also the crystal structure and as a means to display the various colours a mineral can be found. Supplied in lots of 1kg, in a heavy duty polythene bag with information label.
