Offaster pilula are a sub species of echihnoids, fairly small in size, these 2 cm fossil specimens were found in Romsey,, Hampshire in the UK in Campanian age rocks of the Cretaceous period. They exhibit an almost spherical shape and white colouration, very few features are visible but they are certainly ideal for the more serious collector or to indicate the diversity of a species.

Offaster Pilula echinoid fossil of Upper Cretaceous – Campanian in age, found in Romsey, Hamshire, UK. These specimens are relatively small ranging from 1.5 to 3cm in diameter. Their high abundance and varying shape and size makes them very important zone fossils for subdividing upper Cretaceous age rocks. Variations of the form can be used to distinguish between different chalk horizons from which they are commonly found. Each individual specimen comes in a small plastic bag with an information label.
