Specimens of Pecopteris from Marles-les-mines, Pas-de-Calais, France. They have been dated to the Carboniferous period, Westphalian. Pecopteris is a genus of leaves that first appeared during the Devonian period and is believed to have become extinct during the Periam period along with the trees that bore them. These leaves are most commonly associated with the tree Psaronius, a 35 foot tree that resembled modern palm trees. These samples would make a brilliant edition to any fossil collection, though they are also ideal as a teaching aid. Specimens are supplied in a 4" x 3" white card tray with an information label.
