Pleurotomaria tuberculata is an extinct species of gastropod which lived during the Jurassic Period, 200 to 145 million years ago, these particular fossil specimens were found in Ibex zone, Lower Lias strata in Blockley. Gloucestershire, UK. They depict the spiral shaped shell excellently and have been prepped and cleaned, so are free of matrix. They do not, however have the tips of the shells, as these tend to be the most delicate part and so are often destroyed easily during life or the fossilisation process. These samples measure approximately 5 to 6 cm in size, they have a pale grey and pearly white colouration which may, under certain light angles, show small iridescence. Excellent quality for children and for educational use, they come supplied in a white card tray with an information label.
