Pliosaur bone fossil found in the Kimmeridgian clay beds at Abingdon, Oxfordshire, UK. Pliosaurs were carnivorous marine reptiles which predominantly lived during the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods and can mostly be described best as crocodiles with flippers. Adept swimmers, they were apex predators of their environment. It is unknown exactly, which bone this piece is, the sample has been cut and polished from genuine material on one end, the rest is rough and natural on most sides and exhibits an earthy-brown colouration. The cut and polished sides allows you to view the internal structures of the bones, which is of great use to geologists and paleontologist, as well as serious fossil collectors, making it suitable for educational use as well. It measures 13 x 10 x 2.5 cm in size and weighs 650 grams, supplied in a card tray with an information label.
