Pliosaur fossil bone found in the Kimmeridgian clay beds at Abingdon, Oxfordshire, UK. Pliosaurs were carnivorous marine reptiles which predominantly lived during the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods and can mostly be described best as crocodiles with flippers. Adept swimmers, they were apex predators of their environment. These particular samples have been cut and polished from genuine material on one end, the rest is rough and natural on most sides and exhibits an earthy-brown colouration. The cut and polished sides allows you to view the internal structures of the bones, which is of great use to geologists and paleontologist, as well as serious fossil collectors, making them suitable for educational use as well. The samples are available in various optional sizes and come supplied in a card tray with a label.
