Purpura polymorpha marine gastropod mollusc collected from Pliocene sediments in Huelva, Spain. This genus of predatory sea snail has a beautifully ornamented shell and they are often referred to as ‘rock snails’. The shell exhibits minor ribbing, a prominent siphonal canal and smoothed spines , although the spines are very delicate so may be worn or even totally removed. These specimens measure between 20 – 35 mm from the base of the aperture to the apex and are supplied in small plastic bags with an information label.
