Purpurina orbignyi gastropod mollusc collected from the Jurassic Oxford Clays of Woodham in Buckinghamshire. Purpurinidae are an extinct genus of marine gastropod which lived during the Upper Permian through to Lower Cretaceous periods. These specimens were preserved within an oxygen starved deep marine shelf which gave rise to the well known Oxford Clay Formation. The fossils are small, measuring approximately 7 mm in length but they are rare so are sought after by serious collectors. Each gastropod is supplied in a small plastic bag with an information label.
