Rock crystal is the name given to transparent, clear quartz, so clear are these mineral specimens that they almost look like large chunks of shattered glass. Quartz is the most common mineral found at the surface of the earth and rock crystal is one of the most common, colourless, it is fairly hard and on some of the larger surfaces may show a conchoidal fracture. These pieces of rock crystal are available by weight, they vary in size between 20 mm to 60 mm and come supplied in a polythene bag with an information label.
