Specimens of ruby in fuchsite from Mundarara Mine, Arusha Region, Tanzania. Corundum is an aluminium oxide mineral and contains traces of iron, titanium and chromium which influence the crystals colour. With a hardness of 9 on the Moh’s scale of hardness, corundum is used extensively in industry as an abrasive as it can scratch almost any other mineral except diamond. These samples exhibit corundum within fuchsite giving them a highly attractive appearance as the vibrant green of the fuchsite coincides with the rich pink of the corundum, some pieces may also contain inclusions of kyanite. Specimens are supplied in a white card tray with an information label and are a must have for any mineral collection.
