A wonderful display piece of sphalerite, black calcite and quartz from Trepca mine in Stan Terg, Mitovica, Kosovo. This specimen is comprised of black calcite with quartz crystals, pyrite cubes and pyrrhotite blades upon a chalcopyrite, pyrite, sphalerite and rhodochrosite base. The sample shows a vast array of mineral habits, lustres and colours, this makes for a fascinating piece with a somewhat chaotic appearance. The sample weighs roughly 392 grams and measures approximately 9.5 x 7 x 4 cm, it is supplied in a 4″ x 3″ white card tray with an information label. This item would be an excellent addition to any serious mineral collection due to its multiple mineral species and its source location which has only recently become accessible.
