Specimens of stilbite from near Portree, Isle of Skye, UK. Stilbite is a well known mineral and part of the zeolite group, the specimens are easily identified due to their often tabular crystal habit, pink to white colouration and vitreous lustre. Its name is derived from the Greek word 'stilbe' meaning lustre. Today its industrial use is in that of refining petroleum, where it acts as a molecular sieve, enabling it to separate hydrocarbons. These samples have a white colouration and are a must have for any British mineral collector. Specimens come supplied in a white card tray with an information label.
